oilNew Delhi, Monday, November 2 – Festive time is just here. People have already been making so many adjustments on personal front to run their families. After onions and pulses, now the time has come for the mustard oil to disturb kitchen budgets of the masses.

The prices have shot up by nearly INR 20 to INR 25 in the national capital. The biggest trouble for the masses is to think of its alternative that is cheaper and equally healthy. Mustard oil is used for a number of purposes. Apart from sautéing, frying and other cooking purposes, it is used for lighting diyas.

Since Diwali festival is less than two weeks away, people are a worried how they will celebrate the festival of lights. “We will prefer having our homes getting decorated with candles instead of diya given that prices of mustard rates have surged all of a sudden”.

“Seeing the previous augments in rates of household goods, we smell some rise further. Instant increase in prices of items that are used by the masses is unacceptable. Something should be done by those sitting at top otherwise lower-classes will be hit hard. They are already compromising on nutrition part after pulses rates hit double century,” said some homemakers who were taken by surprise thanks to mustard oil prices that zoomed lately.
